| This page is still under construction, there will be additional detailed photographs of our work available soon The Scots Bonnet, or Broad Bonnet, made its appearance shortly after the reformation and became a favoured bonnet style through to the mid Eighteenth century. Our bonnets are traditionally made, normally using undyed wool spun for us in Scotland at a historic, organically accredited mill, then knit in the round entirely by hand using five needles in a carefully researched pattern. It is then heavily fulled (felted) to give a dense snug finish that stands wear in bad weather well. The whole bonnet is then hand dyed to the required shade and blocked to shape before being brushed and trimmed as necessary. An adjustable drawstring can be added to the band at no extra cost for the perfect fit. We can make any shade bonnet you may require. Most often this is a mid blue consistent with the shades achieved using natural woad or indigo dyes, but bonnets are also popular in green, black, brown or undyed white. Bonnets typically cost £35.00 for a large broad bonnet, though we offer smaller options at £30.00 to suit children or slightly built wearers. We guarantee their suitability for regular wear, these are the real thing and we take pride in their ability to keep your head warm in the most inclement weather, though of course they also look wonderful with traditional garb at any occasion. These are a style approved for living history interpretations. We are happy to work to your group's guidelines on colour and size or otherwise make pattern modifications to meet your exact requirements. A toorie can be added to your bonnet in your choice of shade for just £1. Balmoral Bonnets with their distinctive diced pattern can be made in any combination of colours you may wish, and are priced at just £40. We also have a knitting pattern available for this bonnet, priced at just $3 (US dollars) and designed to be knit in aran weight pure wool. Buy the pattern, you will be taken to a checkout page where you can pay by paypal or card securely. Our Kilt Hose are made using an antique circular stocking machine, ours is around a hundred years old now and it is still going strong making practical, long lasting, no-nonsense hose that are a great favourite with dancers, living history re-enactors and those that wear the kilt for everyday wear. We use British wool, often a Shetland yarn which is robust and warm for our traditional hose, but we can also offer a machine washable pure wool which is a consideration for those wanting a more modern interpretation. Most shades can be made to order, and for lovers of modern kilts such as the Utilikilt, we can offer a dip dyed randomly shaded sock that is really different. Kilt hose are made to your specific foot measurement with a deep fold down cuff below the knee, and we can make longer or shorter lengths to suit most wearers. Kilt hose are £15.00 to special order.
